pitanje društvo i život u zajednicama.
U ovoj predstavi PAN.OPTIKUM trupa povezuje elemente modernog doba i
i bićima u univerzumu?
The PAN.OPTIKUM action theatre group is showing a version of Mouawad’s
He is familiar with the shift in history from war
and violence, on the one hand, and enlightenment and hope for a better
world, on the other.
By way of example, his ancient story shows the
abduction of Europa by force, the personal vendetta of her father, who
sends his sons to their pointless deaths, and the founding of a new
city: Thebes.
Kadmos, Europa’s only surviving brother, becomes
King of this city. He wants to reconcile locals and foreigners on the
ruins of war. However, this peace is short-lived.
Despite or due to a gift which he bestows on Thebes
and mankind: the alphabet which makes written language possible –
letters as gods and goddesses of a new mythology.
But this gift proves to be an ambivalent means in
the story: while it can facilitate enlightenment and understanding, it
can likewise pave the way for deception and falsehood.
Language swells up and grows into a wasteland of text that hides and drowns out important questions.
How do we encounter the unutterable behind and above all words?
